Economic Empowerment

Historically, women have been regarded as constituting a weaker section in the society. This
has made most men disregard women in the society especially in the economic field. It’s very
unfair that women especially in the North Eastern parts of Kenya cannot own land or property;
this denies them an essential human need to own something as proof of their hard work or
input.
There is a misconception about the change in a women’s attitude in relation to their success or
economic freedom. We can blame this falsehood on the culture that has delegated specific
roles to the women which being the bread-winner is not one of them.
I believe that isolating women or denying them the opportunity to economically progress
results to a slow moving economy that could be fast tracked if only we were brave enough to
forgo that which makes a few people comfortable.
